I’m embracing a simplicity in my relationships these days, friends and family alike. There is no reason for any relationship that matters to be complicated. It takes less work to be honest and in the moment, than letting the mind roam and induce unhelpful chatter that causes frustration and misunderstanding.
Every Mercury Retrograde we’re all warned to be careful with our communication, and this week is the perfect time to practice our communication style as this astrological event is coming to an end.
Here’s what I’ve learned from actively working on my communication within relationships.
Our egos are fragile, and our instinct is to protect ourselves at all cost, reacting to remove what is perceived as an immediate danger. Becoming defensive to protect our stance, and not let anyone threaten the safety bubble we’ve created.
The person in front of us, no matter how much we love them, is still perceived as a threat, and these instincts incite immediate distrust within a situation and we kind of lose ourselves. Observation, mindfulness, catching it when it happens, a practice within itself, but so worth it!
Be the one who changes how these interactions go down.
Be the person in the relationship that says, hey, before we go any further, let’s get back to a neutral space where we’re not on guard and saying things from a place of defense and hurt, though I would never hurt you.
And both parties say this, I love you and I would never hurt you. But actually, your self-preservation would.
Adjust the perspective that you’re ‘having’ to be the bigger person. Truth is, you understand that by taking the lead and redirecting in a healthier way, you are respecting what you need. The ripple effect is that the other person is receiving a planted seed to really look at themselves, and observe their part in the energy exchange.
Hold steadfast in the frequency that’s being broadcasted. That’s exactly why the situation is being brought to you in this manner, to use what you know, to take action in a way where you are contributing to raising the vibration of the planet.
I have felt significant emotional releases during these types of exchanges, because I know I’m creating change.
The immediate shift can be overwhelming, as I know in my heart that Iām okay with whatever the other person’s response is.
That I can confidently ask questions that facilitate a clearer understanding, that we have an understanding of where each person is coming from, and that my reflection of an interaction is to help us be better, together and independently.
What can we learn in this safe space, in this relationship that I trust, that can be taken and used for interactions with other people in our lives?
Can you relate? Let me know in the comments or send me an email, I’d love to hear from you.
With Infinite Love,
